About Ritter Sport
Ritter Sport has been crafting chocolate in Germany since 1912, when Alfred Eugen and Clara Ritter founded their confectionery factory in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt. In 1932, Clara Ritter invented the brand’s iconic square format — practical enough to fit in a jacket pocket without breaking — and gave it the name Ritter’s Sport Schokolade. Today, the company remains family-owned and continues to produce its colourful square bars at its home in Waldenbuch near Stuttgart, now in its third and fourth generation of family leadership.
